Victory?

View from the hallway.

Now, I'm going to try to find some cute picture frames to spruce it up a bit.
I'm growing to hate this room! But, I did figure out the curtain situation, I had to hang the brackets nearly 7 inches out and 4 inches away from the window! Crazy.

Well this is different!

My goal was to create an obnoxiously obvious sign. This way Josh should have no problem finding me in the crowds! It's not that embarrassing right?

I wanted something super bright and I feel I accomplished that mission. When the cashier at Michael's rang me up she said, "I'm going to put the pink one in front, that way people can see you when you're walking across the parking lot!" Awesome!

reunion!

I'm sure most of you have seen this on FB awhile back, but it's just such a good video. Long, but good. I sincerely hope we can capture our reunion somehow amidst all the chaos!

Ok, so our reunion isn't happening quite yet. But, my goodness, we are getting so much closer! It's crazy to think that I have not physically touched or even been in the same country as my husband since last summer. That's right, summer! I don't want to brag, but I think I've handled this pretty well thanks to great faith, friends, and family. I've discovered that I'm much stronger than I thought I was.

In the time he's been gone, I have done so much stuff. My highlights include:

-watching the entire 7 seasons of Gilmore Girls
-summer trip home with family
-road trip with the dogs to meet up with friends in OKC
-paying off both cars
-got a new job (awesome decision!)
-participated in two amazing Bible studies
-completed my first official 3K and 5K
-redecorated almost each room (7!) of the house in some sort.
-took an awesome girls trip to Fort Worth
-spent Thanksgiving with family in Washington, D.C.
-spent 6 consecutive weekends in DFW for a variety of reasons!
-spent a wonderful Christmas break with the family
-spent New Years with fabulous friends
-had numerous weekly lunches/dinners with truly amazing girlfriends and their kids
-AND! I completely finished my MBA! (graduation in May)

I think that about wraps it up! I'm sure I'm probably forgetting something. Even though this deployment has been long, it's so good to know that for the remainder of 2011, my husband will be right next to me! It's definitely worth the longer deployment schedule.

We've probably got one more lengthy deployment sometime next year and then we will be heading out of Texas. Crazy to think that our time in this great state will probably end next year! Who knows what will be in store for us, what I do know, is that we have NO idea! Just because you fly the B-1, doesn't mean you stay with this aircraft. To entertain you and give you a glimpse of our crazy unknown future, we could end up in the following places: Vegas, New Mexico, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Dakota, or even stay in Texas. Thank God we have faith that He will put us where we need to be! As for now, I don't care where we go, I'm just looking forward to the next few weeks :)

Thank you everyone for your prayers and words. Please keep praying for a safe and timely return! We are hoping for him to be home by the end of the month!!!!!!!!!!

My archnemesis, HELP!

Well, I'm officially in the nesting phase, aka, just a few more weeks until Josh gets home!!
I swear, pillows and curtains are pure hell for me. If they could speak, they would merely laugh and torment me for years.

I've been trying to make my bedding look "homey" for years and I just can't succeed. So, I tried to copy the picture on the bedding that I purchased 2 years ago (yes, I still have it, because I'm that desperate!). Well, the picture didn't help. So, here is what I have. What I did take from the picture is that they are using a goldish fitted sheet and a white flat sheet. Interesting, I thought. I am so matchy-matchy though, could this really work? Well, I bought a $15 gold sheet set today. Now, I'm even more confused! I think the white is too much? But, I do have white walls, and a white lamp, well maybe it's a cream lamp.

Anyways, so, which pillow in the middle looks better, the gold or the white?

As for the curtains, they were a nightmare to find because I wanted them to match the picture I have in the center. I was super excited that I found them, so I immediately went out and purchased the hanging brackets. Well, little did I know, the immediate 3 inches above my window is pure metal. The screw would not budge, and I know how to work a drill! So, I decided to put it a little bit taller and I was going to use a side thingy (technical term, I know) to sweep the curtain back to one side. Well, surprise, I guess the 3 inches of metal is all around the window.

About 2 hours later I'm stuck with what I had had to begin with, an extra long curtain hanging on a tension rod. As an added bonus, for my hard work I received a pseudo hole in the wall, which is now fixed and waiting for the putty to dry. Eventually, I may get the curtains hemmed. Who knows. I'm not cut out for this suzy-homemaker nonsense!

My instinct says gold. It also says maybe I should put two little shelves or sconces on the sides of my picture. Maybe I'll suck it up and hang the curtains a little higher than the 3 inches.

What say you?

Just in case you buy your new calendar at Target. This brand goes from July to September and then places August between Nov and Dec. Enjoy!

totally jealous!

Yes, that is a broom they are using to clean the windshield.
I wish I could be stuck inside today having a Lake Effect Snow Warning!!
I rarely had any snow fall on my vacation home. We had about 6 inches on the ground already, but that wasn't enough! I wanted to see something like this!

Home has at least a foot of snow right now and it is supposed to be snowing at a rate of 2-3 inches per hour and not end until tomorrow morning. They got all of this starting last night!

Lake Effect Snow is very specific to our area and not a lot of other places get it. I love it. It's just super thick, awesome snow. I know other places get a lot more snow, but I just love that we got to grow up with this stuff.

Another reason to love the HOMES lakes! (Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, Superior). I'm not sure if the southern folk have to learn that in school or not. Lake Michigan is my fave.

Best thing is, we still venture out in these 'storms', and our stores don't close. So there is no fear of panic running through everyone. You just drive a little slower.
It's beautiful!

I've already googled Lake Effect Snow for your reading pleasure:
